If you pay the energy bill and the water bill, they have to provide it to you.

If they don't, a "mise en demeure" is necessary. Send it by e-mail, normal mail and registered mail.

If they don't reply nor comply, inform them that you consider that the cost is not real, and unless they prove the cost in showing you their bills, you continue to pay the rent, but stop to pay the charges.

Great! but what happens next? We have already asked for the bills and they are adamant that you have to pay as per the contract. If we stop paying the charges after sending them a notice (via email, mail and registered post) and not recieving the bills, what legal action can they take on us and how can we go about it.
The way our interaction has gone so far with them, its not very pleasant and I am already getting a feeling that we will have to take a legal action or else just pay them whatever unreasonable charges they levy on us till the time we get the freedom of moving out.

Some information for you:
1. It is unlawfull in Belgium to sell energy with benefit. Clearly, if the price in contract is over the price they pay, it is illagal.
2. If the cost is based on consumption, you must be able to calculated the consumption!
3. Price differ from city to city. From day to day. From contract to contract, even with the same supplier.
4. Contract can be 1-2-3 years, fix kWh price, or variable kWh Price, green energy, ou standard, ...

We are stuck without having a solution. They do not want us to provide us the bills of their existing service provider and they are not allowing us to change to the service provider of our choice. (Although I understand that it is our right to demand for the same) We cannot break the contract as we will be liable to pay the rent till the contract is signed. What stand can we take?

Based on the suggestions given by the members here, we told our landlords that we want to chose a service provider of our choice. To our surprise they are telling us, that sinc e we have signed the contract with them (in which the charges for electricity,water and gas are also mentioned), we are liable to pay them as per the contract.
Since we signed it till 31st May 2012, we cant even move out before that.

Is that appropriate? Anything we can do? They are clearly ripping us off. They have not shared the bills for last year either. (which is making us believe that they are infact overcharging us, hence not showing us the bills)

I would also highly appreciate if someone can tell me the charges from Luminous. Are they in accordance to what we are being charged. (Ive mentioned the charges in my original post).

Sur la base des suggestions faites par les membres ici, nous dit à nos propriétaires que nous voulons choisir un prestataire de service de notre choix. A notre grande surprise, ils nous disent que nous avons e sinc signé le contrat avec eux (dans lequel les frais d'électricité, d'eau et de gaz sont également mentionnés), nous sommes responsables de les payer selon le contrat.

Est-ce approprié? Tout ce que nous pouvons faire? Ils sont clairement nous arnaquent. Ils n'ont pas partagé les factures de l'année dernière non plus. (qui est en nous faisant croire qu'ils sont en fait nous surcharge, donc pas de nous montrer les factures)

Je voudrais également très reconnaissant si quelqu'un peut me dire les frais de Luminous. Sont-ils conformes à ce que nous sommes en charge. (Ive mentionnés les frais dans mon message original).

Au niveau du tarif, ils sont vraiment bon aussi.

Pas du tout. Mais la facilité de contracter est telle que tous sans exception passent sur Octaplus...

Evidemment, il ne faut pas que le locataire ait un engagement avec un autre fournisseur.

En tout cas, moi j'ai trouvé le truc. Fini les coupures, les appels de Ores, les incompréhension,  les doubles contrats, les courriers perdus et les plombes d'attente au téléphone. Je leur fais signer le formulaire du fournisseur de leur choix tant que c'est un fournisseur qui accepte les contrats par mail. Il n'y a que Octaplus.

ben on me donne l'info chez le fournisseur....je demande le fournisseur choisi au loc et puis je m'informe....c'est pas non plus confidentiel hein...
en même temps j'ai toujours eu la chance que jusqu'ici les loc choisissaient le même fournisseur que moi
